INTO ETERNITY

For those of us up in the cold North, the sun holds a special significance. It gives us power and energy, something that we have harnessed and spread throughout every part of our worldwide organization. We produce millions of garments every year, around half of which are produced in our factories. Almost half of the electricity in our sewing facilities is currently sourced from solar power. This means that 50% of our sewing machines are powered by the sun. But we won’t stop there. Not only is solar energy environmentally friendly, it is also cost-efficient. Now that’s what we call a sun-win.

For us, sustainability isn’t just about finished garments, but about the journey there. After 60 years in the industry, one of our insights is the importance of doing whatever we can to ensure sustainable production. As a result, we have spent a lot of time looking at how we can reduce our energy use while maintaining our high demands of quality.

The sun as a natural source of energy was, one might say, a brilliant idea.
Besides the solar cells that power the factories, its ceilings are fitted with domed skylights known as Prismatic skylights. These let in natural sunlight, but keep the heat and UV rays out. In addition, automatic sensors activate LED lighting when it is cloudy or dark. The results are a reduction in energy use and a lighter, more pleasant workplace.

Modern solar parks can extract twice as much energy as was possible just ten years ago, which made our decision easy. We are continuing to expand, with renewable electricity as a future energy source. This is also an important marker of our ambition to become the most sustainable global player on the market, now and into the future.

“We aren’t sitting back, but are instead stepping up to our promise to be a little more sustainable each day!”
