BLÅKLÄDER SOCIAL ACT – BECAUSE WE CARE

We are proud to say that our entire production workforce is what makes Blåkläder one of the world’s best brands for workwear. This is why it is important to us that everyone have a stable employment, and that our factories receive a steady flow of work. In other factories it is not unusual to see staff having to forgo their salary or employment security when order volumes drop, but for the production of Blåkläder’s garments this is not the case.

This is because Blåkläder and our factories help each other to plan, to ensure steady production coverage all year round. Our factories give their employees access to healthcare, through a factory-affiliated nurse and regular visits from the company doctor.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are either free of charge or offered at subsidized rates, and employees have the option of free transportation to and from work by bus. Factories run continuous local fundraising drives for those in need, and there is also a collective fund from which employees can draw additional support should they need it. The factories are also involved in crisis support and community-building initiatives, which include donations to local orphanages. Although schooling is free in Sri Lanka and Myanmar, school books aren’t. So our factories have stepped in to buy books, which they then donate to employees’ children at an annual book donation ceremony. In both Sri Lanka and Myanmar there are certain important festivals that it is important to mark. These are celebrated together at the workplace, to boost a sense of community and wellbeing.
